Enforcement of Orders and Judgments

If someone has been ordered to pay you money, that is not the end of the road.  Collecting money from an unwilling party in Saskatchewan is done through enforcing orders and judgments by the party to whom it benefits and is performed through 3 main avenues: The Court of the King's Bench, Information Services Corporation, and the Sheriff's Office.

King's Bench

An order or judgment is issued through the King's Bench to begin enforcement proceedings.

Information Services Corporation (ISC)

ISC is a government contracted corporation that administers a database of judgments and interests against people, land, and personal property.  A judgment-creditor (the party who is owed money) must register their judgment and perform a search with ISC to enforce a judgment.

The Sheriff's Office

The sheriff is a government agency that deals with executing and enforcing court orders.  The sheriff is the official who authorizes the seizure of money, land, or personal property on behalf of a judgment-creditor for the purposes of a court order being fulfilled.  The sheriff is also involved in the process to have a judgment-debtor (owing party) disclose their assets and income which can then be seized.
